Pyrex Cookware

Pyrex cookware refers to a brand of glass kitchenware that is known for its durability, heat resistance, and versatility. Originally, Pyrex was made from a type of glass called borosilicate glass, which is resistant to thermal shock (it doesn't crack or shatter when exposed to extreme temperature changes). This made Pyrex popular for baking, cooking, and storing food.

Today, however, Pyrex cookware is generally made from tempered soda-lime glass, which is still durable but not quite as resistant to extreme temperature shifts as the original borosilicate glass. Pyrex products include a variety of items such as:

  • Baking dishes (e.g., rectangular or square glass pans)
  • Measuring cups
  • Storage containers
  • Casserole dishes
  • Lids (for storage)

It is commonly used for both cooking and storing food because it's microwave, oven, and dishwasher safe. Pyrex's clear glass allows you to easily see the contents, making it a popular choice for cooking enthusiasts and home chefs.
